They were partnered together at the beginning of the live competition and they stood together as winners at the end. Amy and Fik-shun spoke with reporters about their wins, the competition, and what is coming next for them both. Here are edited excerpts from the interview. On why their pairing worked so well Amy: I think we have the same work ethic. We’re kind of perfectionists when it comes down to it. Yes, there are little things that were different and we learned how to work with each other and communicate, but at the start our chemistry just clicked right away because of how hard we worked.
November 21, 1: About 60 dancers were still hoping to snag a spot in the top Those who had already joined an all-star team were in the clear, but many were still fighting to impress them. The remaining competitors needed to give it all they had during the contemporary session with award-winning dancer Travis Wall and again in the jazz training with past SYTYCD finalist Dmitry Chaplan.
By the end of the hour, judges had solidified their final picks, but it got sticky when they each had to eliminate someone from their team during group choreography.
Amy & Fik-Shun – Hip Hop – Week 2 – So You Think You Can Dance Season 10 One of my favorite routines this season What a fun routine choreographed by Monsters of HipHop Dance Convention’s Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, aka Nappytabs!
Hayley Erbert, an year-old contemporary dancer from Topeka, KS, and “Fik-Shun,” an year-old hip-hop dancer from Las Vegas, NV, were the other two members in the bottom four still in danger of elimination prior to Jenna and Tucker’s ouster. The judges required all four dancers to “dance for their lives,” especially since last night’s vote will determine which four performers will make the finale. The judges were forced to eliminate one male and one female competitor based on their solo routines and round of performances from last night and the week prior.
The judges also based their decision on other criteria including what their choreographers had to say about their talent and progress on the show. Following the night’s dances in which each Top 8 dancer took the stage with a So You Think You Can Dance all-star, the judges revealed they had to send Jenna and Tucker home. Nigel even admitted he’s been getting flak from fans on Twitter for saving her over and over again. During Tuesday night’s broadcast, Jenna danced a jazz routine with all-star Mark Kanemura, while Tucker performed a jazz routine with all-star Courtney Galiano.
Before the all-star phase of the competition commenced, Jenna and Tucker had been paired together. Prior to all-stars coming back, “Fik-Shun” and Haley had been partners. The four dancers who didn’t land in the bottom last night performed the following:

There were elimination format changes and some great new ideas, such as having the All-Stars choreograph routines. Let’s take a peek at the factors that helped rock the vote. Personality is a Plus Fik-Shun oozes charisma. His charm and personality are infectious. His smile lights up the room. Is he the best dancer in the competition? Although he has grown every week and come quite far, he lacks the technique and dance background that Aaron possesses. Amy’s personality and likability always made her memorable combined with her perfect technique.
Did Aaron and Jasmine Connect? Both Jasmine and Aaron are excellent dancers, but they lack the charisma that Amy and Fik-shun display.

Jazz choreographed by Mark Kanemura Song: Sassy Robert for the win. All the contestants and All-Stars were really into it and it just made the entire performance so much more enjoyable to watch. What a fantastic opening to the show. It definitely got me pumped! This girl knows how to work the camera and the audience.
Amy Yakima and Fik-Shun, contemporary – Sonya’s gotten herself off to a great start as a choreographer, but this routine was really about both of them conveying this level of emotional intensity to a piece that was about things that can hold you back. Nigel’s right that America will .
Yes, it certainly is subjective. At the time I thought Jakob or Kathryn because of their technique. I had a love for Ellenore then that has only grown over time. She’s absolutely a star. I didn’t feel Russell brought much of anything outside of his style, including performance quality, which was problematic for me. When they had him move to the front edge of the stage and sit down for several eight counts during a group number was just too far for me and I felt showed him unworthy of the win.
I would have loved for him to return to the show since then and dazzle me with his magic in his comfort zone so that I can appreciate his talents again and let go of that bad impression. Really don’t remember which routine you are talking about? I remember him being hurt at the end but voting had ended. It seems like the choreographers put him in the front quite a bit in the group routines?
I remember one group that had all of them on the edge. Also remember him as not performing with his partner in the beginning. As we’ve agreed, dance appreciation is subjective.
They beat out the runner-up male and female dancers Aaron Turner and Jasmine Harper respectively. During a Wednesday conference call with reporters, Fik-Shun talked to Reality TV World about his victory and overall experience on the show. Below is what he had to say. Check back with Reality TV World soon for some additional highlights from his call, and click here to begin reading Amy’s interview.

Tied Up by Yello That vision in the beginning, wow!!! I love how Kathryn was sitting on top of a ladder that was covered with a cloth. It looked like the longest dress ever; so beautiful! And how Paul came out from behind it with a backflips, nice!!! I think this really showed his great partnering skills and his versatility.
I really enjoyed his performance and loved how he looked like he was giving his all! The crowd went wild after!!! Kathryn is just so stunning. Always in awe when she dances and performs! Joshua Allen All-Star from: I love how she can transform from a cutesy girl into such a strong dancer who got down and dirty for this routine! She surprised me big time in this.

Judges do the initial selections, and then whittle the number down to a final The jurists, plus votes by viewers, then select a male and a female winner. Jasmine Harper and Aaron Turner were the runners-up. The quartet will appear with the other top 10 finalists at the State Theatre in Cleveland on October 15 at 8: The tour started in East Lansing, Michigan on October 1.
The morning of that show I interviewed year old Turner, whose specialty is tap. Ironically, he was not selected to be in the top 10, but due to an injury to a finalist, he was given a reprieve. Undeterred, he kept up his lessons and performances. The most difficult challenge for Turner was having to dance outside of his tap-dance-centered comfort zone. Tapping is not one of the genres in which the SYTYCD perform, so tappers never get a chance to spotlight their strongest moves.
In addition, he was learning the dance routines in only seven hours, which put additional pressure on him.

These two are so pretty together. And I loved the choice of using the live version of “The Edge of Glory”- it was so organic, honest, impassioned. I’m not sure if it was quite as good as it was the first time, but I still got goosies and still love these two!
Wow, I thought I was joking about all the standing ovations, but apparently not.

The duo have also been dating since and got engaged in January. It was our chance to become a part of something bigger and better that could change our lives forever…and it certainly has. This worked differently our competing seasons, as we went straight into choreography and only had to do a solo when you had to dance for your life. Changing the order really helped give a fresh take on why the dancers were brought to the Vegas round in the first place.
With that kind of packaging, these two could be in it for the long haul. It would even be cool to see them dance together sometime! We always love when NappyTabs choreographs on the show. They have such a knack for giving the contestants choreography they can really shine doing. We wondered how the street dancers were going to hold up against all the studio trained dancers that are much more apt to picking up and performing choreography.
The guy is so cool. This is quite a different procession than we experienced with Vegas. We both went straight through the choreography rounds…. TWitch says he wished he could have had a night to practice a Mia Michaels routine that put him in jeopardy. But after Sonya gave it a look, she decided they needed the night.
